Supporting Adoptive Families at Risk of Disruption or Dissolution

This presentation will address what adoption professionals should know about supporting families in crisis who may be considering disruption or dissolution. The speakers will help professionals identify and secure appropriate resources while prioritizing adoptive families’ safety and stability.

  • Recognize the prevalence of disruption and dissolution after adoption and primary stressors and caution indicators that cause this
  • Give examples of strategies for prevention and education
  • Design interventions and support programs for when a family is experiencing difficulties with their child(ren)
  • Describe strategies for supporting families in crisisand prioritize safety and stability in the family unit
  • Identify appropriate resources for adoptive parents considering disruption or dissolution

National Council For Adoption, #1804, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 04/13/2022 – 04/13/2023. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credit.

This webinar does not offer credit for NY or NJ social workers. The state of New Jersey does not recognize ASWB ACE continuing education provider level approval.
