The Intersection of Adoption and Addiction

Adoptees are almost twice as likely to struggle with substance abuse and addiction than their non-adopted counterparts. However, treatment options are severely limited and under-researched, and adoptees often go unnoticed and underserved when it comes to substance abuse treatment. This presentation explores the current research, and provides potential treatment options, considerations, and modalities for treating this misunderstood subset of the adoptee population.
